What is a Power of Attorney?

By Patricia Nelson of Two Spruce Law

Powers of attorneys are powerful documents. They are used to appoint someone else to make financial decisions for us. That person is called your agent or attorney-in-fact. With a general financial power of attorney, your agent can pretty much do anything with your finances that you could do. For example, if you are stuck in the hospital and you cannot pay your bills, your agent can.  Unfortunately, they can also sell your car without you knowing about it or empty your back account. So be very careful who you name as your agent. Give us a call let’s talk about powers of attorney.
